ex and lnx |
Recall that e is an irrational number (e is approximately equal to 2.718281828...) and lnx is the natural logarithm associated with e (that is the natural log has the base of e).
Enter e4 into the calculator. The base is e and the exponent is 4.
Step 1: Enter e. Press the yellow 2nd button, then ex located in yellow above the LN button (two buttons above ON).
Notice that the e, the karat ^, and the left parenthesis show up on screen.
Step 2: Enter the exponent. In this example, it would be 4
Step 3: Enter the right parenthesis.
Step 4: Press ENTER. The answer will show up on the right side of the screen.
Similarly we can evaluate a natural log. For example, evaluate ln(5).
Step 1: Enter ln. Press the LN button (two buttons above ON).
Notice that the ln and the left parenthesis show up on screen.
Step 2: Enter 5, then enter the right parenthesis.
Step 3: Press ENTER. The answer will show up on the right side of the screen.
