Faculty:

As we discussed in some of our pre-semester meetings, the "single sign-on" solution is being phased in starting this semester. Current plans indicate that on Tuesday, September 30, CSM will launch the first phase of its new web site with my.csmd, a single, sign-on solution to college services including Online Services (WebAdvisor), WebCT (Blackboard), library resources, and password management.

Currently, faculty, staff and students need to remember several passwords and user IDs to access these services; with my.CSMD, users will only have to remember one. All current user names will remain the same as your current Express Services user names, but passwords will be reset to the your seven-digit faculty ID number.

For WebCT(Blackboard) Faculty: Instructions for students will be posted in WebCT beginning next week in the form of announcements posted for all users in all courses. You can help by just reminding them of the upcoming change and encouraging them to find their student id's if they don't know them.  The best advice for a concerned student is to go to the library and get an id card made.  You may also want to check your courses for any major assignments that might come due on that day and consider the impacts of the id/password/access changes.

The new service is just one of many steps the college is taking to improve its web services. The launch of the college’s new web site navigation and design will begin in January/February 2009. Other future changes will add more functionality to the my.csmd.edu site, such as Netstorage and Groupwise access.  We will continue to give as much advance notice of these changes as possible while we are making the transition.

Have a great weekend,
