Software Showcase
One of the ITC's goals is to assist faculty in the use of technology in the classroom--wherever learning occurs. If there is hardware or software you'd like to have available for your use in the ITC, please send us your recommendations. Your recommendations will be evaluated and then forwarded to the College Technology Council for budget consideration. Below are new instructional technology software programs purchased by CSM:
 
Ball

Macromedia Captivate
Macromedia Captivate (formerly RoboDemo) is available in the ITC lab. Captivate
automatically records all onscreen actions and instantly creates an interactive Flash simulation.  Captivate has a Quiz Maker feature too. The feature allows for the creation of interactive, self-assessment quizzes. Captivate is available at the La Plata campus, LR202

Idea?
Biology Professor Paul Billeter is using the Quiz Maker feature to create a
Web based practice quiz for his Oceanography class.  This presentation presents the student with an image of a fish or plant with a related multiple-choice question. Students receive immediate feedback and an overall grade is provided at the end of the quiz.  The student can take this practice quiz anytime, anywhere. 
Ball Respondus
Many of you have been anxious to use Respondus...we are pleased to announce that you now can download Respondus on your home computer and your CSM computer. See Respondus directions and workshop handout at the ITC's Course Handout web site.
Ball Impatica for PowerPoint makes it easy to add narrated  presentations to your faculty web page or WebCT. (see workshop handout)

With Impatica you can deliver fully narrated and animated PowerPoint presentations to essentially any Internet device without plug-ins and even at normal modem speeds.

Impatica files can easlily be imported to WebCT. Visit Impatica's web site for a quick tutorial on how to upload your powerPoint to WebCT- http://www.impatica.com/higher-ed/higher-ed.html

Impatica is available at the La Plata campus, LR202 and at the Prince Frederick and Leonardtown campus faculty work rooms.
Ball Inspiration is a tool to develop ideas & organize thinking. Inspiration strengthens critical thinking, comprehension and writing across the curriculum, anytime your students need to structure research or other thought processes. Use Inspiration for:

Ball Hot Potatoes is free software designed to allow teachers to make easy-to-create, interactive, Web-based exercises that can be accessed by students with an Internet browser. Hot Potatoes consist of five different modules which are called “potatoes”: JQuiz (multiple-choice quiz), JMix (jumbled-word exercise), JCross (crossword puzzle), JCloze (fill-in-the-blank exercise, and JMatch (matching exercise).
