Step 1. Register for MathXL. To do this, they will need an access code to
register for MathXL. This should have been packaged with the textbook in a
thin cardboard envelope-like package with a tear-strip (underneath the tear
strip is the access code).
Step 2. Enroll in your course. They will need the instructor's course code
(which is just your course name) to enroll in your specific course.
Registering for MathXL
To register for a MathXL course:
- Go to:
http://www.mathxl.com
- Under First Time User?
click the appropriate button:
- Fill in the
requested information on the registration form.
- Make a note of
your user name and password. You will need this information to
log into your course.
If you need help during the registration
process, click the Need Help? link in the
upper-right corner of the registration page.
Enrolling in a course
The Enroll in a New Course page lets you sign up for a new course. You can
either enroll in a class taught by an instructor or you can choose to study on
your own.
To access the Enroll in a New Course page:
- Make sure you have
registered online.

Log in to your course web site.
- From the welcome page, click
Enroll in a new course.
If you need to change courses later, you can return to this page and enroll
again.
The Enroll in a New Course page first shows you two options:
- Select Enroll in my instructor's
course if your instructor has created an online course for you to
enroll in.
- Select your school from the
School dropdown list.
- Select your instructor's name from the
Instructor dropdown list.
If you don't see your instructor’s name, make sure the spelling of the
school you entered during registration matches the spelling your instructor
uses. To change your spelling,
update your account information.
- Select your course name from the
Course dropdown list.
- Click Enroll to enroll
in that course.
The Enrollment Confirmation page appears.
- Click Run installation wizard
now.
The
Installation Wizard opens in a new window. Follow the instructions to
install the players and media components you need for your course.
- Click OK to go to the
welcome page for your course. From there, you can enter your course and
begin working.
